It is the big debate among households everywhere, electric toothbrush or a manual toothbrush? Chances are you have a preference over which type of toothbrush you are using. However if you have been thinking about switching your toothbrush or validating your choice, one thing we can all agree on is that both are effective at removing plaque and keeping our teeth clean. Electric Toothbrush:  Electric toothbrush bristles rotate to help you remove plaque buildup from your teeth and gums. Electric toothbrushes can also be easier for people with limited mobility, people with carpal tunnel, arthritis or developmental disabilities. They also have built in timers, which can be useful to help brush your teeth for at least two minutes. April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month, a month on the awareness of cancers of the mouth and upper throat. While oral cancer can be fatal or have dangerous consequences,  when oral cancer is detected and treated early, treatment-related health problems are reduced, and survival rates may increase. Here are a few symptoms and signs of oral cancer. It is encouraged to check between dental visits, and to see a dental professional if they do not improve or disappear after two-three weeks. Any sore or ulceration that does not heal within 14 days. A red, white, or black discoloration of the soft tissues of the mouth. Any abnormality that bleeds easily when touched. Warm weather is here and sports are all around us. April is National Facial Protection Month, which is the perfect time to remind our friends and Tallahassee community the importance of protecting our smiles and teeth, by wearing a mouthguard. Did you know, during the ages of 7 to 11 years old children are most vulnerable to sports-related mouth injuries. Wearing a mouth guard, especially during sports can help prevent injuries and keep your child safe. 67% of parents surveyed by the American Association of Orthodontists said their child does not wear a mouthguard, yet 70% said their biggest fear is their child getting hurt when playing sports.
